About the Author

Kurt Brandle, Dr. Ing., AIA, Professor Emeritus of Architecture, University of Michigan, graduated from the University of Stuttgart and the Technical University of Berlin. He taught at the Universities of Utah and Michigan building construction, environmental controls, energy conservation and architectural design. His main areas of practice and research are modular coordination, prefabrication systems and passive solar energy application. He is the author of The Systems Approach to Building (1974), coauthor of Energiebewusstes Bauen (1979) and author of many articles in the mentioned speciality areas. He taught as guest professor at the University of Stuttgart and the Technical University of Vienna, and lectured at many academic and professional meetings in the USA and abroad. The present book is the outcome of his more recent work on the relationship of architecture and philosophy.
